Since 1971, The Foundry Ministries has provided faith-based substance abuse recovery for men and women from all walks of life. Here is Jeana’s story of life transformation.
“I never have to go back to that life again!” If you met Jeana and her husband today, you would never guess the struggles they went through. They are happy people, blessed with three daughters and a granddaughter. They live to help others, giving up their time and resources so others can find a better life. They are fruitful, generous, Christian people. But when the children were young, both Jeana and her husband were caught in addiction they could not escape.
They were making decisions that hurt themselves and everyone around them. Losing custody of their children was the breaking point. They had become unfit parents, and their children were taken away from them. Such is the power of addiction. Thankfully, the seriousness and hopelessness of their condition broke through to them. Realizing they needed help greater than their own, her husband came to The Foundry first. Jeana followed him. “At first it was not easy being there,” Jeana says, “but I knew what I had to do. Not being able to have my kids and not being able to care for them hurt. Recovery is not easy, but it can be done with God leading the way.” Both received the help they needed to put God first in all they did. “God showed me who I needed to be. He opened the door for us to live a new life,” Jeana says.
Through the program, Jeana achieved sobriety and learned how to be the wife, mother, sister, and friend she hoped to be. She learned how to care for herself and put God first in every area of life. After graduating from The Foundry, Jeana and her husband spent time rebuilding their relationship with Christ at the center. And then, they were granted custody of their children. Before connecting with Jesus Christ at The Foundry, Christmas had no joy or real celebration. The addiction took center stage, always coming first. “Now, the holidays are filled with vacations, dinners, and fellowship,” Jeana says happily. “I no longer worry about whether or not I can see my kids or granddaughter. Even though my children are now grown, I can still be a mom to them. I never have to go back to that life again!” Jeana thanks The Foundry and the friends who support it. “Thank you for what you do,” she says. “You made it possible for us to get the healing we needed and the opportunity to put God first.” Today, Jeana gives back to the community and family through her patience, understanding, and knowledge of hard times. “Both my husband and I understand the importance of helping others in need. The Lord saved us, and now we want to share the same compassion with others.” †
