Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School will offer three classes this fall in their Lay Academy of Theology.
- The New Testament Gospels: Led by Jonathan Linebaugh, this course will explore the historical contexts, genre, content and message of the four Gospels. This course meets each Monday from 6-8 p.m., beginning Sept. 21.
- Systematic Theology: Led by Deric Thomas, this course will be a study of Christian doctrine that seeks to synthesize what the entire Bible teaches about major foundational theological topics, analyzing the relevant biblical passages and arranging them into a structured framework. This course meets each Tuesday from 6-8 p.m., beginning Sept. 22.
- In and Out of Season: Preaching the Word in the Ancient Church: Led by Stefana Dan Laing, this course will examine the life and preachers of the fourth and fifth centuries, often called the “Golden Age” of patristic preaching. We will hear from these great orators and theologians and hear what they still have to say to the church today. This course meets each Thursday from 2-4 p.m., beginning Sept. 24.
