The Learning Tree is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving children and young adults ages 6 to 21 who face significant challenges associated with their disabilities. Through their community based educational programs located in Anniston/Jacksonville, Birmingham/Pelham, Mobile, and Tallassee, the organization provides specialized instruction designed to meet each student’s unique learning and behavioral needs.
Many students come to The Learning Tree due to the severity of behavioral challenges tied to their diagnosis and the lack of appropriate educational supports in traditional settings. In response, the organization delivers individualized programming rooted in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), a data driven, evidence-based approach that helps students develop communication, social, academic, and daily living skills.
For more than 40 years, The Learning Tree has demonstrated a high rate of success in using ABA within educational and daily living environments to support students with complex behavioral needs. Highly trained interdisciplinary teams work collaboratively to create structured, supportive learning experiences that promote growth, independence, and meaningful progress.
At The Learning Tree, education extends beyond the classroom. Students are encouraged to apply newly acquired skills in real world settings, helping them build confidence and increase their participation at home, in school, and within their communities.
