For over 40 years, Red Mountain Theatre (RMT) has been the heartbeat of Birmingham’s arts community. Whether you’re a parent seeking the city’s best youth summer camps or an adult looking to rediscover your creative confidence, our world-class instructors provide the stage for your next act.
We offer year-round programming for all ages, including:
- Summer Theatre camps for grades 4K through high school. These 1-2 week camp sessions give kids an outlet to use their creativity and imagination in dramatic ways, at all skill levels.
- Performance-based programming for young actors, including Young Artist Productions and the RMT Performing Ensembles. In both, young performers are trained in technique, craft, etiquette, and professionalism. Young Artist Productions are full, costumed musicals BY kids, FOR kids, treated as a full RMT production by the staff. RMT Performing Ensembles are an audition-only, tuition-based program for musical theatre performers who want to excel.
- Classes in acting, improv, dance, and more for all ages. Youth classes generally run from ages 7 to 18. Adult classes start at age 18+, and encourage adults to learn a new creative skill or pick up a childhood passion for the arts where you left off. Financial aid is available for youth programming.
We are dedicated to providing safe spaces for students to learn and grow through the arts. Our Philosophy can be summed up in the three C’s:
- CREATIVITY. By exploring stories, students learn what is possible.
- COLLABORATION. By working with their peers toward an end goal, students learn the value of cooperation.
- CONFIDENCE. By participating in performative experiences, students gain self-esteem and find the courage to express themselves.
