Since talking with Andrea Billingsley Whitfield in 2021, she has not stopped being an active member of her community. Whitfield was recently crowned Ms. Senior Titusville Branch Library. She also received a special award for reading over 200 books.
The contestants of the elegant pageant were judged on an interview, introduction, activewear, talent, and evening gown. Whitfield wowed the audience with her introduction, golf activewear, reciting her poetry, and performing a creative dance. For her evening wear, she was adorned in a black satin and silver long flowing gown. Titusville Branch Library Manager Reba Williams and her staff decorated the library with pageantry decor. Janice Williams was the pageant coordinator.
Whitfield was born and raised in Titusville and still lives in the community today. She stated that she will always be willing to represent and serve her community. One way she served her community was by being a teacher in the Birmingham City Schools for 36 years before retiring. Her faith in God inspires her to always look for opportunities to serve others. “Wherever there is a need- whatever I can do- that’s what I do,” Whitfield reflects, adding that she believes God gave her a passion for serving. Her motto for living a blessed life is: “Trust God, keep the faith, believe, and pray without ceasing!” Her secrets for glowing beauty and an active life include, “Enjoy life. Slow down and enjoy every moment. Life is a celebration. Take your passion and make it happen. But most of all, smile.”
Congratulations to Whitfield for being crowned Ms. Senior Titusville Branch Library! †
