“Vulcans on Parade”
The Vulcan Park and Museum’s Junior Leadership Board recently unveiled three new miniature Vulcans statues as a part of the “Vulcans on Parade” community art project. The mini-Vulcans showcase the work of local artists Melissa Shultz-Jones and Myrna Gates. Two of them will be installed at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Kinetic Communications. The third will be shipped to the City of Liverpool, United Kingdom, as a part of the Sister City agreement established with them in 2015.
“Serving at Shepherd’s Fold”
Members of Asbury United Methodist Church are seen here providing new bedding and towels for 50 residents of Shepherd’s Fold. The prison re-entry ministry in Birmingham recently acquired a much larger space to be able to serve 150 men and 30 women. To support the expansion, the ministry is in need of hygiene items, winter clothing, holiday meals and Christmas gifts for residents.
