Light in the Darkness: Delivering Hope When It’s Needed Most

Mission Makers

The stories pouring out of Haiti have been difficult to watch as seemingly unbridled evil is manifesting in rioting, looting, murder, and other unspeakable atrocities. A veil of fear and panic has gripped much of the nation. It’s certainly easy to become disoriented by the darkness on display and feel hard pressed on every side by the weight of helplessness. But as believers we are called to more. Adversity is where resolve is tempered and faith in action shines brightest.

The generosity of Vapor Ministries partners is sustaining critical outreach and declaring the Good News of Christ in some of the poorest communities in Haiti. Hundreds of team members are diligently serving tens of thousands with free clean water and food supplies while hundreds of children, youth, and adults pour into Vapor centers for disciple-making programs multiple times per week. The non-profit’s regional leadership team continually monitors for threats and operates and adapts with caution to ensure center doors remain open whenever possible, and that children supported through Vapor’s education sponsorship program attend school at every opportunity.

Vapor Ministries continues to open their center doors whenever possible in Haiti to continue their disciple-making programs for children, youth and adults.

Every morning, at every center, every team member who isn’t inhibited by road closures or barricades gathers for praise and prayer. Armed with gratitude, hope, and the Word, team members battle for their neighbors and nation. We celebrate the great things He has done, is doing, and will do! Christian, a team member helping spearhead initiatives in Haiti and who has been serving the ministry for 18 years, poignantly spoke to the very heart of matter. “Despite the challenges, we are not bowing down,” he said. “Our mandate is to serve those hurting and to bring more souls to the Kingdom of God by multiplying disciples.”

The circumstances in Haiti are fluid and dynamic, but we believe the Lord has uniquely positioned Vapor to extend your kindness to the hurting and reveal His love to the hopeless and lost. This is what it means to meet needs, feed souls, and elevate God. Please join us in praying for peace in Haiti.
