Maggie Von Hagel, a 7th grade student at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic (OLS) School, was honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award. The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was granted by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program. Hagel assisted teachers and campers of all ages during summer camps at the McWane Science Center. She also performed science experiments at various stations, helped guests, and answered visitor questions. “It is always inspiring to see such dedication and compassion in our students who set a great example for all of us to help others and leave a positive example for everyone to follow,” said Principal Dorn. †
