Priest, Composer & Instrumentalist Shares God’s Mercy
Dominican priest and musical composer, Father Jim Marchionda will be at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover to lead a parish event this month with a focus on God’s mercy—a mercy reaching beyond borders of any kind, to all nations, all peoples, and faiths and religions. The free, three-evening event runs March 13-15 beginning at 6:30 pm each evening in the church sanctuary. Dinner will also be available in the church’s Deasy Hall, starting at 5:30 pm all three evenings.
The refreshingly upbeat Father Jim will employ Scripture, story, sacred song, and dynamic preaching as he presents “In the Tender Mercy of Our God.” He wholeheartedly embraces the glorious gift of God’s mercy and will share it with those who attend, just as Pope Francis is sharing it to the world. The event is designed for participants who can attend all three nights or just one. Father Marchionda has been engaged in full-time parish mission preaching since 1994. His composition, “I was Hungry,” was sung at the funeral of Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta. He is currently the provincial of the Chicago Dominican Province of St. Albert the Great and serves the Dominican community in a 14-state region in the Midwest in addition to his parish mission work. †
