4 Steps to Being a Winner in 2016

As we move into 2016, ask yourself, “Where is my treasure?”

In Matthew 6:21-23, Jesus Christ makes the statement, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”

EVERY TIME I have chosen poorly in my life, it has been because I was blinded by something. It doesn’t matter whether you or I are blinded by pride, selfishness, bitterness, our past or whatever the source of the blindness, we are still walking in darkness. I’ve walked blindly in darkness before and it NEVER turns out good. Perhaps your walk has been the same.
As we move forward, we must simply ask the Lord for four things as we run our RACE:

  1. Reveal to us whatever issue(s) has us blinded. Truthfully, we probably already know what it is.
  2. Admit or confess to God our blindness and darkness. The Good News is He already knows what it is! You don’t have to get cleaned up to go home to Him.
  3. Courage comes from God, ask for it. He wants us to live courageously.
  4. Expect God to come running with His lantern. He wants us to be more successful than even we do!

We will always lose any race in which we choose to run blind. It actually takes less energy to run with clear eyes. Join me in seeking God’s clarity in 2016. Our families are counting on us to see clearly as we lead them, because they are our treasure.
