Mission Makers
On April 21, 2018, join in a great day of fun while supporting a lifesaving ministry in our community. Sav-A-Life Shelby is hosting “Target Zero: Sporting Clays and Walk For Life” which benefits women and men in life-affirming decisions through pregnancies. This year’s event will include a 10 a.m. Walk at Desoto Caverns, Childersburg, Ala. and an exciting Sporting Clays Competition at nearby Selwood Farm in Alpine, Ala. Walk and sporting clay participants will both enjoy a cookout at Selwood Farm from Noon-1:30pm.
Sav-A-Life Shelby’s mission is to develop a culture of life where abortion is unnecessary and undesirable in Shelby County, Ala. while offering the hope of the Gospel. “Target Zero” reflects Sav-A-Life Shelby’s hope for every person who engages with the ministry’s Pregnancy Resource Center of Pelham, Ala. to choose life for themselves and their unborn child, resulting in zero abortions in Shelby County.
In 1984, God burdened the heart of Jenny Doss to reach women dealing with crisis pregnancies by starting a center in Shelby County. Since the opening of its doors in 1985, thousands of lives have been saved. In the words of TIME Magazine, pregnancy centers are the “kind, calm, nonjudgmental” face of the Pro-life Movement. The Pregnancy Resource Center in Pelham of Sav-A-Life Shelby, Inc. is a 501 ©3 not-for-profit organization that offers help and hope through compassionate care and support. The Center provides free and confidential pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, abortion information, pregnancy/parenting classes, and material assistance to empower women and men to make a life-affirming decision.
