If you are looking for a great opportunity to delve into and be inspired by God’s Word, consider signing up for a Winter/Spring course through Beeson Divinity School. Six course are being offered including “The Jesus Story: From Genesis to Revelation” taught by Dr Douglas Webster, professor of pastoral theology and preaching at Beeson. “Everybody has a story, but only one story redeems our story,” explains Webster who adds that the purpose of the course is to explore the story of Jesus from Genesis to Revelation. The class will pay attention to how the apostles interpreted the Old Testament and how they brought the story of Jesus into focus. The aim of the class is to apply the best practices of Biblical theology in order to strengthen a person’s Christian walk and witness. Webster says, “No one knows too little to be intimidated by this course and no one knows too much to be bored by this course.” The course is offered on six Thursday afternoons from 1 to 3 p.m., beginning on March 2.

“Who is Jesus Christ” will also be offered and taught by Dr. Piotr Malysz, a professor of church history and doctrine at Beeson. According to Malysz, the course “will investigate the identity of Jesus Christ- his death, resurrection, and ascension, as presented in the Old and New Testaments.” It will also examine how early Christians understood the Savior and how they sought to do justice to His person and work. The course aims to answer the questions that Jesus asked His followers, “Who do you say that I am?”, and who is Jesus Christ for us today? The course is offered on six Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. beginning on March 1.

For more information on these and other classes call (205)-726-2731. The cost of each Lay Academy course is $89 if registered before February 22 and $155 after that date. To register visit
