2025 College Scholarship Emily

Scholarship Finalist: Emily Prickett

My Christian faith has been the foundation of my life, shaping my values, aspirations, and the way I view my future. As I prepare for college, my faith has played a key role in my decision to attend Auburn University. Through the strong Christian community at Auburn, influential mentors I’ve met along the way, and experiences that have broadened my understanding of sharing the Gospel, I feel confident that Auburn is where I am meant to grow both academically and spiritually.

One of the first experiences that connected me to Auburn’s Christian community was my time at JH Ranch. While at camp, I was surrounded by counselors who radiated joy, purpose, and a deep love for Christ. Many of them were Auburn students, and their faith-driven leadership left a lasting impression on me. They shared how Auburn provided a strong Christian environment where they could deepen their relationship with God while pursuing their education. Seeing their passion for faith and learning made me realize that college is not just about academics—it is also about surrounding myself with people who will challenge and encourage me in my walk with Christ.

Another way my faith has shaped my college decision was my high school Spanish class trip to Spain. This experience opened my eyes to the beauty of different cultures and the power of language in sharing the Gospel. Throughout high school, I was blessed with Spanish teachers who were former missionaries. Their stories of faith and service inspired me to think about how I could use my own gifts to spread God’s love. They encouraged me to see language not just as a subject in school but as a tool to reach people across the world. Because of their influence, I feel called to continue developing my Spanish skills in college, with the hope of using them to serve others in the future.

Ultimately, my Christian faith has guided me toward a college experience where I can grow in both knowledge and faith. Auburn’s strong Christian community, the influence of faith-filled mentors, and my passion for using language as a way to serve have all reinforced my decision. I know that at Auburn, I will not only gain an education but also continue developing into the person God has called me to be.
