Microwave Peanut Brittle

Ingredients
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 cup cocktail or roasted Spanish peanuts (see notes for using raw peanuts)
1 tablespoon salted or unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda (not baking powder)
