Anna Davis, an 8th grader at Kingwood Christian School in Alabaster, won first place (tie) on vault and second place (tie) on floor events at the recent Alabama State Gymnastics Championship, Level 7, in Mobile, Ala. To qualify for the state championship competition, Anna had to compete and achieve minimum scores in Level 7 gymnastics meets across the country including San Diego, St. Louis, Hoover, Nashville and Augusta. She won first, second and third place in the four events – vault, bars, beam and floor – at the various competitions. Anna also won All-Around Champion at the Elevate the Stage in Augusta, Ga. this spring, while maintaining a full course load at Kingwood. Davis’ goal is to obtain a gymnastics scholarship at a top SEC School and credits her Kingwood teachers with helping her keep up in school while maintaining her rigorous practice and competition schedule.
Cade Horton,a senior a Kingwood Christian School plans to study theology in college this fall to prepare him to become a pastor. He says his Bible teacher, Pastor Mark Davis, has served as a great mentor and encourager. “He taught me how to share my faith- to be straight forward but with love,” explains Horton who has excelled in academic as well as extracurricular activities at Kingwood including the school’s Praise and Worship Team, Drama Team, Student Government and Varsity Football. “Cade excels in so many areas and is a wonderful example of what we hope and pray our youth will become,” explains Kingwood Principal Ruth Gray.
