Take Charge of Your Hearing Health Care
Resolutions and Good Intentions! Aren’t these two subjects heavy on our minds during this month of renewal? When the New Year begins, many of us determine to take charge of our well-being and make commitments to live a healthier lifestyle. One of your resolutions may include investigating hearing health care.
Following the wonderful times just experienced with friends and family, did you notice yourself having difficulty following conversations in a group? Perhaps you realized that you were not able to understand your grandchildren at all times. On the other hand, maybe a family member had to ask you to repeat yourself frequently. These are small signs that hearing acuity may be decreasing. Here are some other questions to consider:
- Are you asked to turn down the volume on the television?
- Is it difficult to follow a conversation especially in a group?
- Do you strain to hear others and then feel tired afterwards?
- Do you have trouble hearing in meetings or in religious services?
- Do you often ask others to repeat themselves?
- Is it hard to understand the softer, higher frequency voices of women or children?
If you are experiencing any of these problems, it might be advisable to have a hearing test at least to give a baseline. You may or may not need some type of hearing amplification.
