Cool Stuff
Take a few moments this month to stroll through and view the art exhibit, “Why We Weep,” on display at Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church. Presented by the Birmingham based nonprofit arts and education organization, Inspero, the exhibit features the work of thirty artists from the Birmingham area. Each artist was asked to create art in response to the Victor Hugo quote, “Those who do not weep do not see.” The exhibit’s featured artist, acclaimed fine-art photographer Vicki Wilson Hunt, captures the power of the human condition in the midst of hardship. Her exhibit includes photographs taken by her late father as a Birmingham police officer during the civil rights era of the 1960s.
Local artist Gina Hurry founded Inspero to showcase and support area artists, believing that their gifts are essential for the well-being of the Birmingham community. Learn more at www.inspero.org.
