Children’s of Alabama Pediatric Concussion Conference: “Kids and Concussion: Tough Questions Worth Asking”

$25Children’s of Alabama will host its fourth-annual Concussion Summit Friday, in its Bradley Lecture Center!
Hosted by UAB Sports Medicine at Children’s and the Wise Up! Initiative, the day-long conference is open to the public and will include presentations of interest to healthcare providers, school system leadership and staff, professional and recreational coaches, athletic trainers and parents.
Registration is $25 and includes breakfast and lunch. Free parking will be available in the Children’s 5th Avenue Deck at 16th Street South and 5th Avenue South. This year’s keynote speaker is Gerard Gioia, MD, PhD, a renowned pediatric neuropsychologist from Children’s National Health System in Washington, D.C. and director of the SCORE Program (Safe Concussion Outcome & Recovery Education). Dr. Gioia is chief of the division of pediatric neuropsychology at Children’s National.
Additional topics to be addressed include a session about advances in football helmet design and safety and a session on what schools can do to help children recover from concussions.
