32nd Annual Multicultural Indian Event

PSA: History, Turtles, and Birds… Oh My! The Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center is pleased to host the 32nd Annual Multicultural Indian Event on Saturday, May 18th, 2019 from 10am-5pm. We book public, private, and homeschool groups for Friday, May17th.
Living History Encampments extend around the back of our lake and will showcase historic weaving, Native American cooking, flint-knapping, pottery making, blacksmithing, historic games, hide tanning, basket making, and much more. The dance arena will be featuring multiple drum groups and flute musicians as well as different styles of traditional dance. Our amphitheater will feature bluegrass and country music as well as raptor bird education. Concessions and Arts & Crafts Artisans will be setup as well as civic organizations teaching about archaeology, the Trail of Tears, Master Gardeners, the Extension Service, and local historic home museums. There are several free children’s activities including necklace making, atlatl throwing, stickball games, historic children’s games and more. There are also $1 Face painting, Wagon Rides, & Canoe Rides.

The admission to the event is FREE! Parking donations of $5 per car are requested but not required. School, Scout, and Church buses park for free. Proceeds benefit the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center.
