Are We There Yet?
Are you looking for the perfect fall getaway? These cabins with breathtaking views in the beautiful Smoky Mountains of Pigeon Forge, Tenn. are a great option to escape your busy schedule and relax at your home away from home.
Slidell, La. natives Wendell and Kathryn Tanner’s lives crossed several times before they met. They had mutual friends, frequented the same places, and even lived in Guam at the same time. They have five children between them and currently live between La. and Tenn. A few years after they got married, they started the Tanner Manor construction company. After renovating several houses, the couple decided to buy a cabin in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. across from Dollywood and named it Tanner Manor Lodge.
The couple bought six more cabins over the next few years, and each one was a fixer upper. They enjoyed gutting and renovating each one and eventually sold each cabin except for Tanner Manor Lodge. In October 2021, they found a property for sale that needed to be completely restored. After visiting, praying about it, and seeing the sunset view on the gravel road leading up to the gazebo, they knew this was their next big project. They also knew that if they were truly supposed to have it, God would provide it, and He did. This was the biggest project they had ever undertaken, with eight cabins on 12 acres. Each comfy cabin has its own theme and is named accordingly: The Ranch, The Beehive, Kissing the Clouds, The Loft, The Vieux, The Nest, The Duck and Turtle Pond, the Nut HousePond, and Footprints in the Sand, a condo in Gulf Shores. Each cabin and condo sleep between 2-20 people.
Your Home Away From Home cabins are perfect for weddings, family reunions, youth groups, men’s and women’s retreats, company retreats and more. Click here to take a virtual tour of The Vieux cabin. All the cabins have only been able to be purchased because of God. Now, the mountaintop that the Tanners have is another gift. They desire to use the property for God by having it rented out to groups doing retreats. They envision the entire property being used for destination weddings, family reunions, Christian retreats, and getaways. The eight cabins sleep up to 54 people. No matter the event, Kathryn and Wendell want to generously offer the stunning mountaintop as a rejuvenating refuge to meet with God, family and friends.
