Be Careful What You Think


Mankind is created in the image of God. Genesis 1:26-27 says, “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; . . . And God created man in His own image,’ in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

One of the ways that mankind is created in God’s image is our intellectual capacity; our ability to think, learn, reason and process information. Check out these great reminders of how important and critical our thinking is:

  • Isaiah 1:18 says, “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord . . .”
  • Proverbs 23:7 points out, “For as he (man) thinks within himself, so he is . . .”
  • Romans 12:2 tells us, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of

    your mind. . .”

  • I Corinthians 2:16 says, “. . . But we have the mind of Christ.”
  • And Philippians 2:5 instructs us to, “Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus.”

Growing up there was a children’s song that said, “Be careful little mind what you think, for the Father up above is looking down with love so be careful little mind what you think.” Philippians 4:8 gives additional instruction when it says, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.” Let me encourage you to keep your mental and spiritual focus on Christ and allow the Holy Spirit of God to influence and guide your thinking.
