Publisher’s Note
In the fall of 2018, I had two children entering college and I had a sophomore in college. Needless to say- I understood the financial strain of higher education and the importance of scholarships. That’s when Birmingham Christian Family– with the help of advertising sponsors- began offering area high school seniors the opportunity to write a short essay to be considered for a scholarship to the college or university of their choice. Seeking to encourage our youth to share how Christ was making a difference in their lives- the essay prompt focused on how their faith impacted their high school journey and soon to be college journey.
Seven years later we are still offering this annual opportunity, and we have been able to share with our readers and followers the inspiring stories of God at work in the lives of many area youth. Several of those scholarship recipients are now graduated and serving God in their careers. Others are on the path to completion. This year we will have three scholarship recipients, who will be able to use their scholarship money at the college or university of their choice.
This annual scholarship would not have been possible without the support of several area local businesses- returning sponsors this year are Alabama Credit Union, American Village, and Vulcan Termite and Pest Control.
