Again this year Mayor William Bell will lead the party in singing “Happy Birthday” to Vulcan at 2 p.m.

Vulcan Birthday Bash

Vulcan may be the world’s largest cast iron statue, but he still needs help blowing out his birthday candles! On Sunday, June 5 from Noon-4 p.m., Vulcan Park and Museum will host a festive outdoor party in celebration of Vulcan’s 112th Birthday.

This year our event will be bigger and better than ever. Enjoy a great family afternoon with entertainment including music, bounce houses, ice cream and cookies. The excitement continues with next generation games provided by GameStop, a Home Depot kids’ workshop, Thomas the Tank Engine from the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum, an excerpt of Aladdin, Jr. performed by the Birmingham Children’s Theatre, activities from Red Mountain Park, Ruffner Mountain Nature Center and Railroad Park, rock climbing, a pull-up competition with the U.S. Marine Corps, native Alabama animals from the Birmingham Zoo, a helicopter display from the Southern Museum of Flight, face painting by the Magic Town Clowns, community drum jams by GetRhythm!, and much more. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children (free for members and children under age 4) and includes all activities, entrance into Vulcan Center, the observation tower, and the 5 Points exhibition, Patience, People, and the Plan, in the Linn-Henley Gallery. Onsite parking is limited. FREE shuttles will be available from the parking lot at the Jefferson County Board of Education across Valley Ave. For more information or to purchase tickets online visit www.visitvulcan.com.
