Experience Success in what God has Called You to Do
Most of us have a desire to be successful. We want to be good at what we do; to do our best; to accomplish what we set out to do; to get it right. Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.” I believe there are three character traits that contribute to success; trust, being teachable and being thankful.
Trust. Personal success necessitates trust in God. Trust is to believe in; rely on, depend upon; have confidence in. Proverbs 3:5-7, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil.” In addition to trusting in the Lord, one needs to prove trustworthy; to be honest, dependable, loyal, and consistent.
Teachable. Success requires being a good student; willing to learn and open to receiving information and instruction. II Timothy 2:15, “Be diligent to present yourselves approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.”
Thankful. Success involves being thankful. I Thessalonians 5:18 says, “In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” We should always have an attitude of gratitude. We need to be quick to offer appreciation for our blessings and not take them for granted.
As we exercise trust and remain teachable and thankful; we will experience success in what God has called us to do.
