Heritage Christian Academy (HCA) proudly announces the significant achievement of HCA Baseball Coach Derrick Boland on being chosen to coach at the collegiate level. Coach Boland has accepted the position of Assistant Baseball Coach at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala. HCA Athletic Director Dave Scherbarth commended Boland by saying, “His influence on our student athletes has been significant, not just in the game of baseball, but more importantly in the game of life.” While HCA wishes Coach Boland the very best in his future endeavors, the school welcomes Adam Russell as HCA Varsity Baseball Coach. Coach Russell was a two -year letterman and All-Conference baseball player at Wallace State and played at Auburn University Montgomery. Coach Russell honed his coaching skills over the past few years at Vestavia High School and Briarwood Christian. Sherbarth describes Russell as, “…both a student and a teacher of the game of baseball. He loves the Lord and has committed his coaching style to developing young men with strong characteristics in leadership, humility, and selfless service to their teammates, school and community.”
Coach Russell joins the Heritage Christian Academy team this fall, filling the shoes of Coach Boland who is now coaching baseball at Huntingdon College.
