Mission Makers
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” Matthew 25:40
This verse is the inspiration behind the faith-based nonprofit LIVE2540. Luke Roberts, Development Director for LIVE2540, explains, “We believe that by providing free, quality, and compassionate healthcare to Liberia’s most vulnerable children, we are directly serving the Lord through the work. And so, living out Matthew 25:40 is the root of our name.”

The Inspiration. Roberts explains that his father, Daryl Roberts, founder of LIVE2540, went on a mission trip to Liberia in 2008 and visited an orphanage. “He went into this orphanage that had 67 children, and it was just in shambles. There was no access to food, no access to a clean water source, no education, and they were living in mud huts.” Roberts explains that this experience broke his father’s heart. “And so, he immediately called home, and we started the fundraising work.” Over the years, LIVE2540 has been able to help more orphanages, build schools and dorms, and provide discipleship. “In 2019, we really felt a tug from the Lord to kind of transition more onto the medical side because Liberia’s medical system is the eighth worst in the world,” Roberts says.
Jesus Loves Me Children’s Center. Founded in 2021, this 18,000 square-foot facility helps 35,000 children in Liberia every year. With both an inpatient and outpatient ward, the facility’s services include malnutrition care, access to medicine, and a trained medical staff. “The Lord has been super faithful in letting the mothers and children of Liberia know that we are here,” Roberts shares, adding that the center has 106 full-time staff including doctors, nurses, and janitorial and administrative staff. “All of these individuals are actively walking with the Lord and make it a point of emphasis in their daily lives to pour into the children and mothers and pray over the families as they come through our clinic,” Roberts explains. The center also shares the Gospel through images of Bible stories. “Liberia has the third-worst literacy rate in the entire world. But having these visuals makes the Gospel a lot more understandable. And it opens doors for conversations, and we have seen that time and time again,” Roberts reflects, adding, “So we are not only seeing health restored, but we are seeing souls coming and encountering Jesus through the love that they are being shown.”
