Healthy Living
Fortify Christian Counseling LLC (FCC) is dedicated to strengthening lives in Christ. As a stand-alone private practice, FCC works alongside area churches to provide Christ-centered, biblically sound, and clinically informed support for mental health needs.
In 2024, Dr. Jerra Dooley acquired FCC from J.C. Threadcraft. “I really did not have it on my radar to operate my own private practice. But it was one of those things that you knew when it occurred that it was a God thing. And you either step up and step forward or you lose out. So, I stepped up and stepped forward. And here we are in God’s blessing,” Dr. Dooley shares. Since the acquisition, the organization has expanded its counseling team and office facilities. While FCC serves as a counseling resource for local churches, it is an independent entity situated within a professional office building in the Inverness area of Birmingham. FCC also offers HIPAA-compliant telehealth services across the entire state of Alabama.
Dr. Dooley earned a Doctor of Education in Community Care and Counseling, as well as a Master of Arts in Pastoral Care and Counseling with a specialization in Addictions and Recovery from Liberty University. She is a certified Biblical Counselor through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). With over 30 years of leadership experience in women’s ministry, Dr. Dooley has successfully facilitated Bible studies and conferences, while also providing Biblical Coaching for women in shelters and prison work release programs. “Over this period of years, I’ve led thousands of women to discover their identity in Christ- their spiritual gifts, heart and passions for things, abilities, life experiences, and how all that plays in together to show them how God designed them to do what He wants them to do,” Dr. Dooley says. Additionally, Dr. Dooley served as a women’s counselor at Briarwood Counseling Center from 2014-2023 and as founding director of Gracefull Ministries from 2002-2023 before becoming the owner of FCC this year.
Serving the Whole Family. FCC employs male and female counselors who hold doctoral and master’s degrees along with various licenses and certifications. All counselors are grounded in the Christian faith and have experience applying various methodologies. “The name Fortify was developed to be a strong name for men who want to be strong in Christ, and then to also let women know they can be empowered through the Biblical principles God gives us to live by,” Dr. Dooley explains, adding that you can learn about the team of counselors online and easily view their fees and more at www.fortifychristiancounseling.com.
