Outdoor Holiday Traditions

If you don’t already have one, consider starting a holiday tradition that incorporates the great outdoors. Whether it’s on family land, at your favorite club or taking advantage of one of Alabama’s management areas, spend time with family and friends outdoors. Bring back an old tradition or start a new one. Think of it as an early New Year’s resolution or an opportunity to make the most of the last days of 2016. Here are a few outdoor ideas to consider:

Volunteer for a work or clean up day.
Invite a young person hunting.
Donate to an organization whose focus is giving youth the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.
Take family and friends to one of Alabama’s State Parks and spend time outdoors without the distractions of our fast paced day to day lives.

The month of December is about giving but it doesn’t have to be material giving. Investing time in others and enjoying God’s creation is a great way to give this time of year. This month is also most importantly about the birth of Jesus Christ, the one true reason for the season. God gave us the greatest gift we could ever receive, His Son, born to die on a cross and rise again to save us from our sins.
