Scholarship 2024 Timeline:
• Applications Open January 2024 for high school seniors in the five county Birmingham area to apply for a scholarship that can be used at any college or university.
Application form includes a short essay asking students
“How has your Christian faith impacted your decision making in your high school career?”
Scholarship Application Deadline Friday, March 15, 2024.
• During the period of open applications, BCF shares this opportunity with our readers/followers through our print/digital issues, social media, e-subscription base, radio commercials and media coverage. E-blasts and flyers are also shared with area school leadership. Sponsors will be recognized throughout this 8 week promotion.
• A panel of independent judges will pick the Top 5 essays from which readers will pick 1 Winner and 2 Runner Ups.
• Announce Top 5 Finalists on Facebook and Instagram Wednesday April, 3, 2024. Essays are posted on BirminghamChristian.com and a link to essays is shared and promoted through social posts. Each Finalist social post will include link to their essay and a thank you tag to our sponsors. Each essay posted on BirminghamChristian.com will include a thank you live link to our sponsors’ websites. Based on previous years, more than 60,000 people are expected to engage in the scholarship promotion on Facebook and Instagram!
• Vote for Top 5 Finalists, April 4 through April 10, 2024 on Facebook and Instagram. To Vote for a Finalist, readers must like and share the post.
• Winners Announced on Facebook and Instagram April 12, 2024. Announcement made from sponsor location with thank you to all sponsors.
• Winner Essay and excerpts from Runner Up Essays published in the May 2024 print and digital issue of BCF with sponsors recognized and thanked. This content will also be shared through our social media
• At least three scholarships will be awarded: $2,000 to Winner, $500 to top two Runner Ups.
