The Hoover Service Club(HSC) recently recognized and awarded Jean Ingram with their annual Flora Mae Pike Award. The award is named in honor of Pike who started the Club to “give and serve the Hoover community and all in need.” Pike was known for her servant’s heart and the Club pays homage to her every March by presenting the Flora Mae Pike Award to a member of the local Hoover community who “has exemplified Flora’s giving heart, community service works, and gift of volunteerism.”
When being presented the 2022 Award, Ingram was described as someone who embodies all the characteristics of Club founder Flora Mae Pike and a pure blessing to the community of Hoover. Club member Betty Moulton shares “I cannot list all the good works that Jean is involved in… but I can tell you that our city is more than blessed to have Jean as part of it.”
Ingram’s volunteering began when she moved to Hoover 47 years ago. 25 of those years she balanced her volunteering with full time work at the Hoover School system until she retired in 2016. Her volunteer efforts include working backstage with the Miss Alabama pageant, serving in the Alabama Federation of Women’s Club and volunteering at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
