UA EC and nameplate logoUA Early College offers innovative opportunities for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors to earn college credit while they finish high school. Students can earn up to 30 credit hours (that’s two semesters’ worth!) from a top 50 research university, with online or on-campus courses. The convenience of our course options provides flexibility for students involved in extracurricular activities to get ahead around their busy schedules. Credits that you earn are accepted by a wide range of universities, and many high schools allow dual credit, so that your college-level work also counts toward your high school diploma. Alabama students are eligible for a 50% discount in tuition, which is already charged at the lower UA distance rate, and additional book scholarships are available. In addition to the regular courses offered year-round, students can also participate in UA Early College’s Summer on Campus program, which allows students the unique opportunity to live in residence halls on UA’s campus in Tuscaloosa for four weeks while taking classes and “trying on” college! Eligibility requirements include:

  • Cumulative 3.0 high school GPA since ninth grade (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Completed ninth grade (to apply)
