By popular demand, Community Grief Support’s Junior Board is bringing back the ultimate celebration of the South’s favorite comfort food at a fun, family-friendly event on November 13! Enjoy fun festivities, live music and yummy mac n’ cheese at Back Forty Beer Company, 3201 1st Avenue North, near Sloss Furnace.
There will be dozens of vendors showing off their own renditions of mac ’n cheese. To date, vendors include: Porky’s Pride, Chef Shawn Catering & Events, The Cheesecake Emporiyum, Simone’s Kitchen (Atlanta), Fultondale Fire Department – Chief Grill Daddy & The Old Guys, Urban Cookhouse, Café 1918, Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ, The Fig Tree, and The Southern Kitchen (many who have participated before). This year, there will be cook teams and home cooks included in the friendly competition. Local “celebrity” judges will taste all the dishes for a fun awards ceremony. Activities for kids include a balloon clown, face painting, a scavenger hunt and interactive games and crafts. The event is pet-friendly and there will be snacks and water for pets of all shapes and sizes.
Reserve your tickets now to take advantage of the early bird price ($15 for adults; $5 for ages 6-12; and free for children five and under), by visiting www.macfestbhm.com. Day of tickets will be $20. So get them early! Don’t forget to bring some extra money for beverages like hot chocolate and warm apple cider if the temperature is cool! All proceeds go to Community Grief Support to fund free grief counseling, support groups, and community grief education in the Greater Birmingham area. Many thanks to the 2022 M+C sponsors this year: EBSCO, Brasfield & Gorrie, Medical Properties Trust, BCBS, Michael Hicks Services, Vulcan Materials, Cobbs Allen, TransAmerica Printing, and Adams Computer Tech.
