# Henderson & Walton Women’s Center, P.C. Cheers for Zion Redington as He Goes for the Gold

Birmingham-based Henderson &amp; Walton Women’s Center (HWWC) recently welcomed Zion Redington to speak at their annual Associate Appreciation Day. Redington is the youngest member of Team USA’s wheelchair rugby team and will compete in the 2024 Paralympics in Paris, France.

Photo courtesy: Dominic DiSaiaRedington was born with ectrodactyly, which is a disability that caused him to be born with one finger on each hand and one toe on each foot. Born in China, he was adopted at two years old by his mother, Heather Redington-Reddick. At the age of six, he underwent surgery to amputate his feet to improve his mobility skills. Now at the age of 17, he is preparing to represent America in the Paralympic Games on August 30 – September 2. Redington and his family relocated to Birmingham from Franklin, Tenn. to be closer to the Lakeshore Foundation, where the Team USA wheelchair rugby team practices. Redington shared his inspiring journey to the Paralympic Games with the group and how he believes people should focus on their abilities- not disabilities. He also shared the importance of the three A’s his coaches have taught him: academics, attitude, and ability. The HWWC team proudly supports Redington’s Olympic journey and wishes him success in the upcoming games.
