DESCRIPTION:Make plans to join Lettermen of the USA (LotUSA) for the Inaugural Clays for Heroes-clay target shoot at Selwood Farm\, Friday\, June 19\, 2020. Proceeds from the Clay Target Shoot event will benefit honorably discharged veterans in need and the Goode Foundation for their fight against ALS. Check-in and breakfast begins at 8 a.m. followed by the 18 station sporting clay competition at 9 a.m. Lunch and prizes will start at 12 p.m. \nLettermen of the USA is a national charitable organization of former college athletes\, as well as active and former coaches who have teamed up to help serve honorably discharged veterans\, wounded veterans\, and former college players in need and proving that rival teams and rival fan bases can work together to achieve a common goal. LotUSA is an all-volunteer organization that relies on donations to continue the mission of providing ADA-compliant home renovations\, personal mobility aids\, specialized vehicles and funds for medical expenses. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday June 20\, 2020\, Mark’s Outdoors will give the first 100 kids that come into the store a free rod and reel. The only “catch” is that the parent must take their kid fishing asap. “It is our way of giving back to the community and getting parents involved with their kids and interested in the outdoors\,” explains Mark Whitlock\, Jr. “The objective is to make memories. With the rise of cell phones in the hands of children they miss out on nature and we want people to get involved.” Mark’s will also have sales throughout the store on fishing reels and rods\, clothing\, fishing accessories and much more! DESCRIPTION:The Seasoned Adult Ministry of First Baptist Church Trussville (FBCT) will be remembering one of its own with the Leland Dockery Tribute Cruise-In on Saturday\, June 20th\, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.\, in the church’s front parking lot. \n“Leland loved his cars and had been tinkering with hot rods since he was in high school. He personally restored over 30 cars\,” said Bob Smith\, FBCT’s Minister to Seasoned Adults. “Not long after I came to First Baptist in 2018\, he and I talked about having an auto show\, and he thought it was a great idea. I never imagined we’d be doing one without him\, but I can’t think of a better way to honor his memory. We are anticipating over 150 show-quality vehicles on the campus of First Baptist Trussville.” \nPre-registration for the Leland Dockery Tribute Cruise-In is available online at www.fbctrussville.org/cruise-in-registration. Onsite vehicle registration begins at 8 a.m. the day of the show. Classifications are 1949 and older\, 1950-59\, 1960-69\, 1970-79\, 1980-89\, 1990-99\, 2000 and newer\, Military\, Ratrod\, and Import. SUMMARY:Community Prayer Vigil for Peace & Racial Justice
DESCRIPTION:John Carroll Catholic High School will be hosting a Community Prayer Vigil for Peace and Racial Justice on Thursday\, June 25th at 7:30 p.m. at Pat Sullivan Field on the John Carroll Campus. A joint effort by the John Carroll Office of Campus Ministry\, the John Carroll Heritage Panel\, and the John Carroll Student Government Association\, the event is an opportunity for people to come together and join voices in prayer as our community works to move forward in peace and a greater understanding of one another. “Social justice has long been a pillar of the work that we undertake with our students at JCCHS. Catholic social justice teaches us that all people are made in the image and likeness of God and so possess an equal and inalienable worth. We are proud that our students have sought to make this event happen and we support them in their desire to continue to grow and learn through these challenging times. Prayer is concrete action for the sake of our community. Our words will not return to us empty but will prepare our hearts to do God’s will in our world.” Abby King\, Director (JCCHS Campus Ministry) \nTo allow for social distancing\, the prayer vigil is being held at Pat Sullivan Field on the campus of John Carroll and the gates will be open at 7 p.m. Additionally\, we encourage all those attending to wear a mask for your protection and the protection of others in attendance. For those unable to join us in person\, you can participate by praying The Divine Mercy Chaplet from home\, starting at 7:30 p.m. Participants praying from home can visit the John Carroll website for the instructions on how to use The Chaplet. All are encouraged to unite with us in prayer. Updates and resources will also be made available via the school Facebook page. Because of the solemn and prayerful nature of the event\, posters or signs will not be allowed at the vigil. We ask for participants cooperation with this request.
