Early on\, Collectivus Church realized it didn’t want a building that sat empty six days a week so they asked the question\, how could this space be best utilized\, and their answer was events\, which is ultimately two-fold. DESCRIPTION:Experience live at The Lyric Theatre this timeless classic reimagined as a ballet\, inspired by music from the 1965 musical film\, and the von Trapp family’s life story. Performed by students of The Dance Studio who have auditioned and been cast as characters from the story and have been hard at work learning choreography with Artistic Director Jaclyn Shiflett and guest star Brandon Barranco who is dancing the role of Captain von Trapp. This is the first ballet performed at the Lyric Theater since the pandemic. DESCRIPTION:Often\, after a loss\, the first holiday season can bring on a great deal of stress\, anxiety\, depression and sadness.  To help those who are facing their first holiday as a loss survivor\, Community Grief Support hosts a number of ‘Hope for the Holidays’ community seminars throughout Birmingham on Saturdays in November. \nIf you or someone you know is facing this 2021 holiday season without a loved one\, please join us at this valuable event. There will be a continental breakfast offered at each seminar. Other loss survivors will share how they dealt with holiday grief\, and bereavement care expert and counselor\, Steve Sweatt\, LPC/LMFT and clinical director at CGS will provide information on coping tips such as these: \n\nPlan Ahead for Your Holiday Season\nAccept Your Limitations\nTrim Down to Essentials \nAs for and Accept Help\nInform Others of Your Needs\nBuild in Flexibility\nGive Yourself Permission to “Be”\n\nAt the seminar\, participants will be given an outline for making your own holiday “plan” so that you are more prepared for dealing with the feelings you will experience.  You’ll also receive a keepsake booklet with ways to memorialize their loved one. DESCRIPTION:The Junior League of Birmingham’s Jingle & Flamingle event is coming to town Friday\, Nov. 19 as part of its annual Market Noel fundraiser presented by Regions Bank. This event at The Finley Center provides a fun night out with friends dancing the night away. Tickets are $36 and include light bites and a signature cocktail by Queen’s Park. Attendees can continue the party afterward by purchasing a to-go cocktail kit and/or attending the after party sponsored by The Struggle Bus to take place at Big Whiskey until 11 p.m. The Struggle Bus will be available to take people to the Big Whiskey from The Finley Center until 11 p.m. \nJingle and Flamingle is one of many Market Noel events throughout the week\, including Preview Noel\, First Responders Luncheon\, JLB Hearts Birmingham\, Brunch with the Big Guy and Milk and Cookies with Santa\, in addition to the Market Noel holiday shopping event at The Finley Center. With the purchase of a $15 general admission ticket\, patrons will be able to attend Market Noel and shop until they drop. DESCRIPTION:The Hammies is a Trail Run series that hops around to different parks in BirmingHAM. The trail run series is designed for all skill levels of runners with easy to moderate difficulty trails incorporated in our race loops. Our goal is to offer a fun racing platform at local venues on a professional level.
