Lettermen of the USA (LotUSA) is a national charitable organization of former college athletes\, as well as active and former coaches who have teamed up to help serve honorably discharged veterans\, wounded veterans\, and former college players in need. The mission of Lettermen of the USA is to impact those who serve by offering the motivation\, guidance and support necessary to rise and pursue success “One Yard at A Time.” \nLettermen of the USA is hosting the 2nd Annual One Yard at A Time Gala on Friday\, February 21st at 6 p.m. The event will be held at The Club in Birmingham\, Alabama. The $150 ticket price includes a seated dinner\, music\, live and silent auctions\, photo and autograph session. The night will feature guest speaker Bill Clark\, head football coach at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Captain Gary Mike Rose\, US Army Medal of Honor Recipient. SUMMARY:Choral Evensong
DESCRIPTION:The Cathedral Choir\, under the leadership of Frederick Teardo\, Director of Music and Organist\, and Charles Kennedy\, Associate Director of Music and Organist\, sings monthly Choral Evensong services throughout the program year. The service of Choral Evensong uses the Order for Evening Prayer\, taken from the 1662 edition of the Book of Common Prayer. Each service includes an Introit\, the Canticles\, and an Anthem\, and is framed by hymns sung at the opening and close of the service. The Canticles sung are the Magnificat (Song of Mary) and Nunc Dimittis (Song of Simeon). In addition to two lessons read from the Bible\, a brief sermon is given reflecting on the readings of the day. Learn more here.

DESCRIPTION:The Distinguished Young Women Program of Jefferson County is accepting applications from high school girls graduating in 2021 and residing in Jefferson County. The deadline for receiving applications is March 8\, 2020. \nThe program\, (formerly Jefferson County’s Junior Miss)\, will take place on July 17-18 2020 at Vestavia Hills High School. Participants compete in the categories of fitness\, self expression\, interview\, scholastics\, and talent. Last year more than $13\,000 in cash-tuition scholarships. \nThe Jefferson County representative will advance to the Distinguished Young Women Program of Alabama in Montgomery\, AL where she will compete for over $40\,000 in cash-tuition scholarships and over $1\,000\,000 in college granted scholarships. The current Distinguished Young Woman of Jefferson County is Lauren Thrasher\, a senior at Hoover High School.

SUMMARY:Choral Evensong
DESCRIPTION:The Cathedral Choir\, under the leadership of Frederick Teardo\, Director of Music and Organist\, and Charles Kennedy\, Associate Director of Music and Organist\, sings monthly Choral Evensong services throughout the program year. The service of Choral Evensong uses the Order for Evening Prayer\, taken from the 1662 edition of the Book of Common Prayer. Each service includes an Introit\, the Canticles\, and an Anthem\, and is framed by hymns sung at the opening and close of the service. The Canticles sung are the Magnificat (Song of Mary) and Nunc Dimittis (Song of Simeon). In addition to two lessons read from the Bible\, a brief sermon is given reflecting on the readings of the day. Learn more here.

They will also shred for free your unwanted documents. As you recycle you will also be helping to support United Ability\, formerly UCP of Greater Birmingham. Gone For Good accepts paper\, file folders\, CDs\, paperclips\, binder clips\, and staples. For electronics\, Gone For Good generally accepts computer-related items – hard drives\, flat-screen monitors\, keyboards/mice\, printers\, etc. If it’s used in a home office\, it will be accepted. Items NOT accepted include: Tubular/Projection monitors or televisions; medical equipment/waste\, including dental molds; kitchen/household appliances; medication/pill bottles; computer hard drives must be documented by a GFG staff member.
