DESCRIPTION:April 21 – 27\, 2019 is Parental Alienation Prevention Week and April 25\, 2019 is Parental Alienation Awareness “Bubbles For Love” Day.  “Just as bubbles flow freely\, so should the love a child has for both parents!”\n  \n “Bubbles For Love”\nWednesday\, April 25\, 2019 at Noon\nParental Alienation Awareness Day \nSponsored by Alabama Family Rights Association  \n  \nThe Alabama Family Rights Association encourage the entire state of Alabama to participate in this year’s “Parental Alienation Prevention Week and Awareness “Bubbles For Love” Day.” We would like to invite community leaders and citizens throughout Alabama to participate by planning an activity or event in your community. \n\n\n\n\nApril is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month; a time to emphasize that our children deserve the leadership of the adults (parents\, leaders\, community) around them to ensure their health\, wellness and safety. \nThis is an important community campaign that links “Parental Alienation” with “Child Abuse” because after all\, it is a form of mental abuse that children suffer. \nShow your support for children by taking 10 minutes out of your day at noon April 25th (or any other time during the week) to blow bubbles for love. View PSA here. \nWe encourage everyone to participate: mayor’s office\, court house\, churches\, businesses\, daycare centers\, schools\, libraries\, etc.  You may also choose to display a “Tree of Love” in your place of work or business. DESCRIPTION:A free educational session offered by Children’s of Alabama Behavioral Health on the hospital campus. The session – Your Child’s Mental Health: Knowing the Signs and Asking for Help – begins at 5 p.m. in the Lowder Building (1600 7th Avenue South). Under the direction of the CARES Program (Caregiver\, Advocacy\, Resources\, Education and Support)\, the quarterly CARES Talks are designed to assist parents\, caregivers and community members as they care for children with various emotional\, behavioral or mental health needs. “Our team of pediatric behavioral health experts understands the challenges that parents and caregivers of children with a mental or behavioral health condition face. Through the CARES Program\, we want to help caregivers by providing them with the information\, resources and support they need to understand and cope with their child’s challenges\,” said Beth Rocker\, MSW\, LMSW\, family care coordinator at Children’s of Alabama. SUMMARY:32nd Annual Multicultural Indian Event
DESCRIPTION:PSA: History\, Turtles\, and Birds… Oh My! The Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center is pleased to host the 32nd Annual Multicultural Indian Event on Saturday\, May 18th\, 2019 from 10am-5pm. We book public\, private\, and homeschool groups for Friday\, May17th. \n Living History Encampments extend around the back of our lake and will showcase historic weaving\, Native American cooking\, flint-knapping\, pottery making\, blacksmithing\, historic games\, hide tanning\, basket making\, and much more.  The dance arena will be featuring multiple drum groups and flute musicians as well as different styles of traditional dance. Our amphitheater will feature bluegrass and country music as well as raptor bird education.  Concessions and Arts & Crafts Artisans will be setup as well as civic organizations teaching about archaeology\, the Trail of Tears\, Master Gardeners\, the Extension Service\, and local historic home museums. There are several free children’s activities including necklace making\, atlatl throwing\, stickball games\, historic children’s games and more.  There are also $1 Face painting\, Wagon Rides\, & Canoe Rides. \nPlease mark your calendars and visit our Facebook page and our website to learn more about the festival. If you have never attended\, our Facebook page has an album with over 300 photos from last year’s event.   Schedules will be available upon arrival and will also be posted online the week prior to the event.  Please call me if you have any questions. \nThe admission to the event is FREE!  Parking donations of $5 per car are requested but not required.  School\, Scout\, and Church buses park for free. Proceeds benefit the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center. Thank you for supporting the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center\, it is by hosting events like this that help us take care of our park and remain a free education museum to the public.
