DESCRIPTION:On Saturday June 20\, 2020\, Mark’s Outdoors will give the first 100 kids that come into the store a free rod and reel. The only “catch” is that the parent must take their kid fishing asap. “It is our way of giving back to the community and getting parents involved with their kids and interested in the outdoors\,” explains Mark Whitlock\, Jr. “The objective is to make memories. With the rise of cell phones in the hands of children they miss out on nature and we want people to get involved.” Mark’s will also have sales throughout the store on fishing reels and rods\, clothing\, fishing accessories and much more! SUMMARY:Choral Evensong for Ascension Day
DESCRIPTION:The Cathedral Choir sings the traditional Anglican service of sung Evening Prayer at the Cathedral Church of the Advent in celebration of the Feast of the Ascension\, a Holy Day observed each year in commemoration of Christ’s Ascension into heaven. This feast day occurs on the 40th day of Easter season. \nThe Cathedral Choir\, under the leadership of Frederick Teardo\, Director of Music and Organist\, and Charles Kennedy\, Associate Director of Music and Organist\, sings monthly Choral Evensong services throughout the program year. The service of Choral Evensong uses the Order for Evening Prayer\, taken from the 1662 edition of the Book of Common Prayer. Each service includes an Introit\, the Canticles\, and an Anthem\, and is framed by hymns sung at the opening and close of the service. The Canticles sung are the Magnificat (Song of Mary) and Nunc Dimittis (Song of Simeon). In addition to two lessons read from the Bible\, the clergy officiant gives a short homily reflecting on the readings of the day.

DESCRIPTION:Sav-A-Life needs diapers of all sizes\, baby wash\, and baby wipes! These products will benefit mothers and their babies experiencing unplanned pregnancies in Shelby County. Anyone can participate\, you must maintain the 6-foot distance requirement and not get out of your vehicle. The instructions for those participating in the drop-off are as follows: Cars will enter from Highway 31 onto Cummings Street and drive to the back of our building. No one is to exit their cars. Simple drop-off your items in a bag\, in the parking area by your car. One of our team leaders will pick them up after you leave. If you wish to donate diapers\, wipes and wash at another time you can safely go online at Amazon at this link to do so here. The Diaper Drop-Off begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. For more information\, call 205-776-1247. \n
