SUMMARY:Hope for the Holidays with Community Grief Support
DESCRIPTION:Often\, after a loss\, the first holiday season can bring on a great deal of stress\, anxiety\, depression and sadness.  To help those who are facing their first holiday as a loss survivor\, Community Grief Support hosts a number of ‘Hope for the Holidays’ community seminars throughout Birmingham on Saturdays in November. \nIf you or someone you know is facing this 2021 holiday season without a loved one\, please join us at this valuable event. There will be a continental breakfast offered at each seminar. Other loss survivors will share how they dealt with holiday grief\, and bereavement care expert and counselor\, Steve Sweatt\, LPC/LMFT and clinical director at CGS will provide information on coping tips such as these: \n\nPlan Ahead for Your Holiday Season\nAccept Your Limitations\nTrim Down to Essentials \nAs for and Accept Help\nInform Others of Your Needs\nBuild in Flexibility\nGive Yourself Permission to “Be”\n\nAt the seminar\, participants will be given an outline for making your own holiday “plan” so that you are more prepared for dealing with the feelings you will experience.  You’ll also receive a keepsake booklet with ways to memorialize their loved one. SUMMARY:The Sound of Music
DESCRIPTION:Experience live at The Lyric Theatre this timeless classic reimagined as a ballet\, inspired by music from the 1965 musical film\, and the von Trapp family’s life story. Performed by students of The Dance Studio who have auditioned and been cast as characters from the story and have been hard at work learning choreography with Artistic Director Jaclyn Shiflett and guest star Brandon Barranco who is dancing the role of Captain von Trapp. This is the first ballet performed at the Lyric Theater since the pandemic.
