SUMMARY:Sozo Children's 9th Annual Run for a Reason 5k
DESCRIPTION:Sozo Children’s 9th Annual Run for a Reason has changed to a virtual run this year due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. The charity 5K benefitting Sozo Children\, a Birmingham-based ministry serving the needs of vulnerable children in Uganda\, was scheduled for April 18th but will now span a period of six days\, from May 10th through the 16th. 5K Participants can register online www.sozochildren.org/runforareason now and throughout the event. Each participant will receive a swag packet including a Sozo Run for a Reason shirt regardless of whether they are running for fun or competitively. \n

SUMMARY:Choral Masters of the Baroque: Music of Bach and Handel
DESCRIPTION:The 2019-2020 Cathedral Concert Series presents the Cathedral Choir and Orchestra in a concert of scared choral works from the Baroque period. \nThe Advent Cathedral Choir and Orchestra will present an evening of sacred choral works from the Baroque period\, under the direction of our music director Frederick Teardo. This concert will feature our new harpsichord as a continuo instrument playing with the orchestra\, alongside the John and Lucille Urmey Continuo Organ. Featured on the program will be George Frideric Handel’s Coronation Anthem Zadok the Priest\, Johann Sebastian Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3\, and his Cantata No. 140 on Wachet auf\, ruft uns die Stimme (Sleepers\, Wake!).
