SUMMARY:32nd Annual Multicultural Indian Event
DESCRIPTION:PSA: History\, Turtles\, and Birds… Oh My! The Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center is pleased to host the 32nd Annual Multicultural Indian Event on Saturday\, May 18th\, 2019 from 10am-5pm. We book public\, private\, and homeschool groups for Friday\, May17th. \n Living History Encampments extend around the back of our lake and will showcase historic weaving\, Native American cooking\, flint-knapping\, pottery making\, blacksmithing\, historic games\, hide tanning\, basket making\, and much more.  The dance arena will be featuring multiple drum groups and flute musicians as well as different styles of traditional dance. Our amphitheater will feature bluegrass and country music as well as raptor bird education.  Concessions and Arts & Crafts Artisans will be setup as well as civic organizations teaching about archaeology\, the Trail of Tears\, Master Gardeners\, the Extension Service\, and local historic home museums. There are several free children’s activities including necklace making\, atlatl throwing\, stickball games\, historic children’s games and more.  There are also $1 Face painting\, Wagon Rides\, & Canoe Rides. \nPlease mark your calendars and visit our Facebook page and our website to learn more about the festival. If you have never attended\, our Facebook page has an album with over 300 photos from last year’s event.   Schedules will be available upon arrival and will also be posted online the week prior to the event.  Please call me if you have any questions. \nThe admission to the event is FREE!  Parking donations of $5 per car are requested but not required.  School\, Scout\, and Church buses park for free. Proceeds benefit the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center. Thank you for supporting the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center\, it is by hosting events like this that help us take care of our park and remain a free education museum to the public.

SUMMARY:Accordian Concert Series
DESCRIPTION:Seven-Time World Champion Grayson Masefield from New Zealand will perform at Brookwood Baptist Church.  Grayson has been the Headliner for the American Accordion Association and the International Accordion Association.  What kind of music will he play?  He’s the Seven-Time World Champion\, he can play anything!  The Accordion was designed as an alternative to the Church Pipe Organ.  You will be amazed at the sound that comes from a box sitting on someone’s lap.  This Concert is FREE courtesy of the Alabama Accordionists’ Association.  Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Grayson Masefield.  Two performances only\, 1:00pm and 7:00pm.  Saturday morning at 9:30am\, there will be a Workshop.
