SUMMARY:Flag Raising Ceremony to Celebrate Veterans
DESCRIPTION:Somerby St. Vincent’s One Nineteen will honor all its veterans at 11:00 a.m. Friday\, Nov. 11\, 2016 by raising a new flag.  Boy Scout Troop 119 will perform the flag ceremony for the senior living community. “As it takes courage for a soldier to risk life and limb to battle for his country we feel at Somerby that the least we can do for these brave and courageous men and women is to honor them as our heroes\,” said Debra Blais executive director at Somerby St. Vincent’s One Nineteen. “It is through their efforts that we are able to sustain our youth in promoting and instilling in them our country’s freedoms\, equalities and the importance of courage applied to all aspects of their lives.  We are humbled and honored at Somerby to remember our great Veterans!” In addition to the flag raising ceremony\, each of Somerby’s 50 resident veterans will be presented a star from the “Stars for our Troops” program which is a campaign that recognizes service to our country.The event is open to the public.
